From Regional Heritage to Global Impact: How KG Media Helps CEE Brands Break Into DACH
For ambitious brands from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), entering Western European markets is about more than visibility. It is about earning trust in crowded categories dominated by established global players.
At KG Media, our Growth Catalyst Award winner, Performance Marketing Director Antonios Ivan Karalazos and his team are helping regional brands make that leap. By combining multichannel strategy, local market intelligence, premium media, and performance discipline, they turn strong brand heritage into campaigns designed to compete internationally.
Building international growth from local insight
Antonios Ivan Karalazos brings more than 15 years of experience in digital marketing and advertising, with a focus on strategy, performance, and growth. In his day-to-day role, he leads teams and oversees large-scale campaigns across digital and offline channels.
KG Media develops multichannel strategies that connect those environments, helping brands reach global audiences with measurable impact. The agency serves clients across the CEE region through a strong international partner network while preserving local relevance in each market.
Its differentiator is a tailored approach: “What makes our approach unique is our tailored way of working, combining modern marketing technologies with strategies built around each client’s business goals and specific market conditions,“ shares Antonios.
KG Media: turning regional brand equity into international impact with Microsoft Advertising
KG Media’s work is driven by a clear opportunity: helping strong regional brands grow beyond their home markets. That means translating local brand equity into media strategies that can compete on an international stage.
“A key milestone for us was showing that an independent agency from the Adriatics region can successfully manage international campaigns at a high level,“ explains Antonios. One campaign in particular that captures the agency’s approach was “They Didn’t Expect Us to Belong. Vegeta DACH and the Campaign That Broke the FMCG Hierarchy.”
The goal was to grow awareness for a CEE heritage FMCG brand across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (collectively known as the DACH region). KG Media deployed a broad media mix that included Microsoft Advertising, premium video, social media, out-of-home advertising, influencers, and retail-linked activations. “It [Microsoft Advertising] adds a valuable layer to our international media strategies, especially in competitive markets such as DACH,“ says Antonios. “We particularly value its strong targeting capabilities, quality placements, and ability to support both brand awareness and measurable performance.“
The campaign became a defining proof point for KG Media. “Microsoft Advertising plays an important role in helping us reach high-value audiences in trusted and premium environments.“ Their strategy, and Microsoft Advertising's wide array of capabilities, positioned KG Media to compete confidently, reach further, and ultimately deliver greater results in a highly saturated, competative category where both context and credibility matter.
KG Media also recognizes Full Stack Experts, its long-term partner agency, for technical expertise in the Microsoft Advertising ecosystem and reliable support in complex international campaign execution. That collaboration included the Netflix campaign that helped position Vegeta as the first CEE brand to advertise on Netflix in Western European markets.
Using AI to make international campaigns smarter
KG Media is already using AI across research, media planning, creative adaptation, and campaign analysis. For teams working across multiple markets and languages, these tools can connect insights, audiences, and formats more efficiently.
“We see the biggest opportunity in using AI to make international campaigns more relevant, scalable, and performance-driven,“ shared Antonios. But the agency’s philosophy remains grounded in human judgment: data, tools, and AI all help, yet common sense - and knowing what truly matters to the client - still guides the work.
Small team, international capability
The KG Media team is small enough to stay deeply connected to each project, yet experienced enough to manage complex international campaigns. Three words capture its culture: curious, agile, and dedicated.
KG Media combines media expertise, digital performance skills, local market knowledge, and hands-on execution. “What makes us especially strong is our mix of Croatian and Austrian market understanding, senior experience, and close day-to-day involvement in every project,“ shares Antonios.
That culture also shapes the agency’s view of impact. Success is not limited to launching a campaign; it includes creating new opportunities for export growth, stronger brand visibility, and lasting client relationships.
“The best campaigns start with real understanding. Stay close to your clients’ business, not only their media plans."
— Antonios Ivan Karalazos
What comes next
KG Media is focused on helping more ambitious CEE brands take the next step in their international growth. “In the near future, we want to build campaigns that combine premium media opportunities, performance discipline, AI-driven insights, and strong local market understanding,“ explains Antonios.
The goal is simple: help regional brands enter demanding export markets such as DACH with greater confidence, relevance, and impact.
