COVID-19 insights & trends (April 21 edition)

As consumers remain home, search has grown in increasing importance. It helps brands stay connected with consumers and highlights new and emerging behavior trends.

Our goal is to continue to provide you with new and updated search trends on a weekly basis as you adjust to the ongoing changes in search behavior.

Here are a few of this week’s themes:
 
  • Financial Services: There are more people actively searching for Financial Services year over year and we're seeing a lower ad density in this vertical, so now is a great time to build stronger digital connections with your customers and grow market share with a cheaper cost per click (CPC).
  • Retail: Office supplies searches are up 41% to forecast and 22% year over year (YoY) for the post-COVID-19 period of March 14 to April 10, reflecting consumers searching for office supplies while working from home and home-schooling.
  • Tech & Telco: Searches for both brand and non-brand productivity-related tools increased dramatically as shelter-in-place orders became more widespread. Additionally, searches related to digital/electronic signatures are among the most popular as businesses transition to remote work.
