Microsoft Store Ads and other product updates for January

January 12, 2023

Happy 2023 from Microsoft Advertising! We’re sharing a belated and briefer product roundup for January, but there were lots of great blogs recently posted that you don’t want to miss!

At the end of last year, we had some great insightful posts on carbon emissions, Xandr Curate, ethical advertising, and a lookback on Black Friday and Cyber Monday performance. Now, we wanted to share a couple product updates you may have missed and then a preview of what’s hopefully to come in the next monthly product roundup blog posts.

This month’s top story: Microsoft Store Ads

Did you know? Advertising on PC apps is now here! Learn from last week’s blog post on how you can promote your desktop app to customers on Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices with Microsoft Store Ads.

In-market Audiences expanded to new markets in the Middle East and Africa

We’re always glad to be expanding our audience targeting capabilities to new markets. As of this month, our favorite In-market Audiences are now in the following markets: Ethiopia (ET), Malawi (MW), Tanzania (TZ), Zimbabwe (ZW), Lesotho (LS), Mauritania (MR), Mauritius (MU), Namibia (NA), Reunion Island (RE), Seychelles (SC), Gambia (GM), Congo (CD), Guinea (GN), Madagascar (MG), Togo (TG), Nigeria (NG), Saudi Arabia (SA), Yeman (YE), Algeria (DZ), Azerbaijan (AZ), Bahrain (BH), Egypt (EG), Iraq (IQ), Israel (IL), Libya (LY), Moldova (MD), Oman (OM), Qatar (QA), Tajikistan (TJ), United Arab Emirates (AE), Armenia (AM), Georgia (GE), and Kyrgyzstan (KG).

For a full list of available lists in each market, check out this link: All available In-market Audiences as of January 2023

What’s to come in the near future?

We’re excited about all the goodness we plan to release at Microsoft Advertising. In the upcoming monthly product roundups, get ready for announcements around Local search ads, Marquee ads on Microsoft Edge, and more vertical ad types, just to name a few.

Important reminder: You have until February 1 to migrate to Responsive Search ads

Lastly, don’t forget! Starting on February 1, 2023, RSAs will be the only search ad type that can be created or edited in standard search campaigns. With the focus of this migration being to help you efficiently drive a stronger return on investment (ROI), Expanded Text Ads will continue serving along with RSAs, but we’ll no longer support the ability to create new, or edit existing, Expanded Text Ads moving forward. This is an extension from the previously planned August 29, 2022 deadline.

As you get set for the new year, make sure all your ad groups have at least one RSA!

That’s all for January—We’ll see you back here after the new year on February 7th with another recap. Take care everyone!
