Use search ads to capture New Year's resolutions and sales

March 2014

About 45% of people make resolutions each New Year. These can range from losing weight, to getting organized, to quitting smoking. In most cases people are willing to spend money — and a lot of it — to make their resolution a reality. In fact, it’s estimated that people spend $5.6 billion each year to support their resolutions. Not surprisingly, a big part of that is in the health and diet industry which has annual U.S. revenue of $20 billion.

Currently some 108 million Americans are on a diet — and 85% of weight-loss products and services are purchased by women. Sports and fitness are a big part of annual resolutions, and that’s also a big spending category — projected to reach $23 billion in 2016.

The key to reaching this audience is getting a better understanding of what they respond to. To learn more about what you can do to connect view our New Year, New You resources or download it to take on the go.
