Microsoft Advertising Insights looked at the recent trends on the Microsoft Search Network within the Credit Cards and Loans & Lending categories in the UK. We dug into search trends, recovery insights, and brand vs. non-brand query results.
In Credit Cards, we observed a decline on credit lending, and in 2020 the lending peak was in March compared to the typical November-January peak seasonality. We also saw a growth in debt reduction searches, and rewards credit card searches are slowly recovering. Within Loans & Lending, clicks and cost per clicks dipped during the onset of COVID-19, but have since shown recovery. Another observation made across the categories is that generic terms tend to comprise the majority of searches.
