Microsoft Advertising Insights brings you an analysis of Automotive search trends in different European markets — Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Netherlands and the UK. We break down trends in the overall Automotive category, as well as within sub-categories: alternative fuel vehicles vs. fossil fuel, brand vs. generic searches, and new and used searches.
Some of our key findings:
- In Europe, Automotive searches are back to year-over-year (YoY) growth since June.
- Electric and Hybrid searches grew more year-over-year (YoY) from June to December. In November-December 2020, Alternative Fuel Vehicle growth was almost equal to overall Auto search growth.
- Compared to “brand+model”, “generic” queries show less volatility and better resilience over time.
- Used car searches in general have a higher YoY growth compared to new.
