Microsoft Advertising Insights analyzed Mental Health and looked into seasonal patterns in searches, the impact of COVID-19 and how to differentiate between the depression seeker vs. general mental wellness searchers based on online browsing behavior.
Mental Health covers several conditions, and we saw increasing searches for all conditions. Searches for various conditions as well as for Mental Health Services are seeing an increase year-over-year, and the COVID-19 pandemic has lead to an increase in Mental Health conditions and searches. We also saw that COVID-19 patients are much more likely to develop mental health conditions. Mental Health searchers tend to skew female and depression searches (vs. general mental wellness searchers) tend to spend more time on search and are looking up specific symptoms.
