During graduation season, we see many people around us moving on to new adventures. As a result, we often find ourselves saying goodbye to old friends and saying hello to new friends. For Bing Ads, during the month of July we will be saying goodbye to an old friend— the Bing Ads Campaign Planner — which will deprecate on July 26, 2017. At the same time, we encourage everyone to say hello to a newer friend, the Bing Ads Keyword Planner
To help streamline the tools you use on Bing Ads, we are focusing on Keyword Planner for advanced vertical and keyword research insights. And we will continue to add new capabilities to Keyword Planner throughout the year. For example, we recently expanded the availability of this tool to France and Germany
How do I get started with Keyword Planner?
Please visit Bing Ads online, and under the Tools tab you will find Keyword Planner.
Where can I find vertical insights or keyword research in Keyword Planner?
One of the more popular features of Campaign Planner was generating vertical insights. You can find similar vertical insights within Keyword Planner. Simply expand the first section labeled “Search for new keywords using a phrase, website or category,” and under the field “Your product category” you can pick any category or its sub category. These categories use the same vertical taxonomy as Campaign Planner.
Select the category you would like, along with any desired targeting settings, and click “Get suggestions.” Here you can review the search volume trends and mobile trends, breakdown by device or location, as well as compare to competitor domains or the market leader domains.
You can also review the keywords within the product category along with their average monthly search volume, competition intensity, suggested bid and ad impression share metrics. These are the same insights that were provided in Campaign Planner. These insights are grouped in a way that makes it easier to add them to your account or export them to Microsoft Excel for further review.
