As you’ve probably noticed, the pandemic lockdowns changed many industries, one of which was retail. Online shopping is bigger than ever, and apparel searches and clicks are up +21% and +35% year over year (YoY) as a result.
Microsoft Advertising Insights examined search trends for many apparel sub-categories, and used forecasting tools to estimate growth for the rest of 2021.
Most of the sub-categories we examined showed a growth trend for advertisers to consider. Some of the best performing sub-categories in 2020 were: pants and trousers, clothing, footwear and outwear. Looking at these growth patterns raised an important question: with these changes and growth in mind, what does the future hold for this industry?
The findings were positive. We expect overall apparel clicks to grow +27% YoY in the rest of 2021.
But that’s not all! We also expect to see double-digit growth across almost all apparel sub-categories.
